Struggling with retention?

Are your lashes falling off multiple clients to fast?

Well the answer to this is so you truly understand your adhesive!

When it comes to lash glue the 3 MOST IMPORTANT THINGS ARE:

  1. The drying time

  2. The humidity range

  3. Temperature range

If you do not know these 3 things then this is what may be causing lack of retention.

  1. DRYING TIME

Drying time is important because you need to make sure your glue is the right speed for your work. If you are a new lash tech you might struggle to place lashes quickly. If your glue has a fast drying time (1 second for example) and you’re taking 2 seconds to place your lash, the glue will already be partly dry before placing it. If this happens then the lash may temporarily stick but it will not have the proper bond to make sure the lashes last.

You also don’t want to pick a lash glue to slow as the lashes may stick together if you’re lashing fasting than it’s drying.

Make sure you are choosing the correcting drying time for you! Here at Allure we have one slow drying glue up to 3 seconds and one fast drying glue up to 1 second to meet all your needs!

  1. HUMIDITY RANGE

Do you measure your humidity? Well if you do not go onto eBay or Amazon right now and order a hydrometer, they’re available for cheap prices but this you do need! You need to know what range your glue is (for example at Allure our glue range is 20-70 humidity) therefore for lash techs we ensure that humidity does fall out of these ranges.

If your humidity is too high the lashes are going to shock cure (dry too fast which makes them brittle) and can cause the false lash to just snap off.

If your humidity is too low the lashes will take to long to dry and stick together.

The Fix ???

Well you have 2 options,

  1. Get a dehumidifier/ humidifier

  2. Purchase a range of glues for any humidity

  1. TEMPERATURE RANGE

Just like humidity, glues also have a temperature range, it is important you stay between your glues range to ensure the lashed stay on. At Allure our glues range from 17-25 degrees Celsius.

Last thing to invest in is a good primer to make sure all your clients lashes are prepped and primed with no oil residue. Our peach scented primer is perfect for MAXIMUM RETENTION! When paired with the Allure Glue, we have clients returning with 6+ weeks strong lash retention.

I would advise you as a lash tech to not feel disheartened with lashing. If a lot of clients lashes are falling off then accept this may be your mistake, amend it & show your clients your good customer service. (I would always advise when possible to redo the service to allow clients to leave with a happy feeling about your lashes). If it’s not happing with lots of clients (maybe just 1 person or 2) see what the clients used on their eyes, makeup, had a hot shower etc + understand this may be the clients aftercare. Again handle this with sensitivity, let them know + advise them on their aftercare!

Thankyou for the read!
